Hot springs Okitama is famous as a “hot springs kingdom”; every city and town has least one hot spring (onsen). It is also wonderful to step out from the onsen-ryokan (Japanese style hotel with its own hot spring) and take a stroll around a hot spring town.  《Onogawa Hot Spring》There exists a legend that Ono no Komachi, a famous poet who lived during Japan's Heian Period, became a great beauty after soaking in the Onogawa hot spring about 1200 years ago. Because of this legend, people believe that Onogawa hot spring can create beauty. In the summer fireflies flit about the area, creating a fantastical atmosphere.  《Akayu Hot Spring》Akayu Onsen is located in the foothills at Eboshiyama Park, a park famous for its cherry blossoms. There are many hot springs facilities. You can readily enjoy public baths and foot baths.  《Shirabu Hot Spring》Many outdoor sports enthusiasts come to enjoy skiing and trekking at Tengendai Highlands and Mt. Azuma.
